Installing Ledger Nano S Plus

Installing the Ledger Nano S Plus is easy with the help of the manual below. We also have a Ledger Nano X manual.

Before you start:

• Your operating system must run at least Windows 8, macOS 10.10, or Linux and be connected to the internet.
• Install the latest version of Ledger Live on your computer.

Set up device

1. Connect your Ledger Nano S Plus with the computer using the supplied USB cable. You will now see the message 'Welcome to Ledger'.
2. Some instructions will appear on the screen. Use the left and right buttons to scroll through them. By pressing both buttons at the same time you can confirm your choice.
3. Choose the option “Set up as new device?”. If this is the first time you are using the device, this is the right option. If you want to restore a previous installation, you will need to choose a different option.

Set PIN code

To better secure your Nano S Plus, it is necessary to set a PIN code of 4 to 8 digits. This will be requested every time you reconnect the device.

1. When the screen shows “Choose Pin code”, press both buttons at the same time to confirm.
2. Use the left and right buttons to select the numbers of your choice.
3. Confirm the number by pressing both buttons at the same time.
4. Repeat these steps until you have a secure PIN code.
5. Then scroll to the ✓ icon to confirm the PIN code.

Tip: Make sure you have a secure code that no one can guess. Don't choose a date of birth or an easy to guess series. For maximum security, choose 8 random numbers.

Store backup words safely

If anything ever goes wrong with your Ledger Nano S, you can regain access to your cryptocurrencies using a 24-word seed. These 24 words provide access to your device should it ever get lost, broken, or destroyed.

1. In the box is a blank recovery sheet. There are 24 empty fields.
2. Write the first word on the paper and check if it is correct.
3. Click the right button to proceed to the 2nd word.
4. Continue this process until you have written down 24 words.
5. Now you have to confirm your 24 words one more time. It says “confirm your recovery phrase”.
6. You now have to choose the correct word by scrolling through the options and then confirming.
7. Your device is now ready to use.

Please note that these 24 words provide access to your cryptocurrencies. It is very important to store these words safely and never store them digitally.
