Firmware update guide
Why update your Keystone 3 Pro? Firmware updates usually include support for new blockchains, bug fixes, or new features. If your current version meets your needs, updating isn't necessary. Below, you'll find explanations for the two ways Keystone devices can be updated.
Option 1: Update via USB cable
1. If your firmware version is lower than 1.0.4, you will need to perform the first update using a MicroSD card before proceeding with USB updates.
2. Check the battery : Make sure your Keystone's battery is at least 20% charged.
3. Connect : Tap [via USB] and use the USB cable to connect your Keystone wallet to your computer. Tap [Approve] to grant your Keystone wallet USB access, as it might otherwise only allow charging.
4. Update : Open your computer's web browser and go to the Firmware update page.
5. Install : On the update page, click the "Install Update" button and follow the provided instructions to install the latest firmware.
Option 2: Update via MicroSD card
1. Check Battery : Make sure your Keystone has at least 20% battery.
2. Format the SD card : Insert the SD card into your computer and format it as FAT32. See the blog post here for how to format this for Windows or Mac.
3. Get the firmware : Download the latest firmware version from Keystone and save the file (keystone3.bin) to your MicroSD card. Download the latest official Keystone firmware here .
4. Insert the SD card : Insert the SD card containing the firmware into your Keystone device.
5. Start Update : Open the "Upgrade" option on your Keystone 3 Pro and follow the on-screen instructions to start the update process.
